Jorge Balcells is the founder of JBO. He is passionate about the great wine culture that exists in Spain as well as the gastronomy.
“My name is Jorge Balcells, and I’m a wine exporter based in Barcelona, Spain, with over a decade of experience in the industry since starting in 2010.
Spain is home to many small, family-owned wineries that produce exceptional, artisanal wines at reasonable prices. However, due to their size, many of these wineries lack the connections to reach international markets.
One of the key advantages I offer to my clients is the ability to consolidate shipments. Unlike importing directly from a single winery, which requires filling an entire container with just their products, my service allows importers to diversify. Clients can mix and match selections from different wineries, with a minimum order of just one pallet per reference. For instance, a 20 ft container can hold up to 11 pallets, meaning 11 unique brands, varieties, or references from multiple wineries.
My focus is on medium- to high-range wines crafted under the meticulous supervision of experienced oenologists. I’m committed to offering wines that represent excellent value for money, steering clear of low-end, cheap options.
